About Jardín

Within each of our hearts is a garden, a vast orchard, abundant with ripe fruit and flowers, alive with the sounds of birdsongs and running streams. This is a sacred space where we can commune with the Divine. Jardín de Altagracia is a space to cultivate and care for your heart’s garden. We design and offer an array of practical tools for spiritual formation with the intention to support spiritual seekers of all backgrounds on their journey with the Beloved. Our tools are rooted in the Christian mystical tradition and center contemplation and connection with creation.

About Altagracia

Altagracia Alvarado is a Christian mystic and herbalist from South Central Los Angeles, CA. She is a cradle Episcopalian who found her home in the Christian mystical tradition after years of spiritual seeking. She is devoted to the liberation and mutual flourishing of all beings and works to reconnect humans with the Divine and all of creation through practical mysticism.

Altagracia is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Religion with a concentration in Hebrew Bible at Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York. She studies biblical plants in their Ancient West Asian context, their magical and medicinal properties and ancient mythologies in order to illuminate the purpose of their presence in sacred texts. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles which inspired and continues to inform her studies and spiritual work.
